We grow a huge array of organic
flowers. We use no chemical pesticides,
herbicides or fungicides. I think most people are unaware of what goes
on in
the cut flower industry. I know we were before we started researching.
One
fourth of all the pesticides used in the world are used to produce cut
flowers.
Many of these chemicals are banned in the U.S., like DDT and
methyl-bromide, but
are allowed on the flowers we import. Unlike produce, flowers are not
washed.
These pesticides then transfer to us and our children, not to mention
the
underpaid workers in the factory greenhouses and the surrounding
environment.
Our
flowers are available seasonally, spring through fall.
